There are basically two kinds of scholarships available at Microsofts and they are:

      • Tuition Scholarships and
      • Diversity Conference Scholarship

Microsoft tuition scholarship

  2. The scholarship is purely offered on merit-based. Hence, the Applicant must show an excellent academic achievement.  It is recommended that the applicant maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average out of a possible 4.0, or a 4.0 cumulative grade point average out of a possible 5.0. This will stand such applicant out.
  3. Lastly, the applicant is expected to have demonstrated a satisfactory progress toward an undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related STEM discipline.

Microsoft Diversity Conference scholarship

Diversity Conference Scholarship

The diversity conference scholarship offered by Microsoft is meant to award paid registration to any of the following diversity conferences:

    1. Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing
    2. National Society of Black Engineers Conference
    3. Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Conference
    4. Tapia Conference

This is awarded to qualifying applicants. Aside the paid registration, the scholarship covers Travel, hotel, and meal stipend worth $1,200 USD. Note further that these funds cannot be  transferred to other individuals.

What are the Eligibility Criteria for the Diversity Conference Scholarship Program?

Below are the eligibility criteria for the diversity conference scholarship program as contained in the official Microsoft Scholarship Criteria Page:

  • The Applicants at the time of application must be enrolled full time in a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program at a four-year college or university in the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
  • Lastly, the scholarship is only offered to students pursuing Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field. This is part of the Microsoft commitment to the advancement of technology.

  1. Can high school or community college students apply for either scholarship?
      • The answer is NO. This is because the scholarships are available to students who are currently enrolled at a four-year college or university.

      • The criteria remains that you must be enrolled and not otherwise. So, it means that your application will not be considered or even processed. The pass the eligibility test, you must you must be enrolled full time at a four-year college or university in the United States, Canada, or Mexico at the time of your application.

  3. I’m studying at a school outside of the United States, Canada, or Mexico. Am I eligible to apply?
      • The answer is a big No, To be eligible, you must be a student of a college or university in the United States, Canada, or Mexico. Note that Microsoft may expand their scholarship program in the near future to accommodate persons from regions not covered.
